FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do you price a local move?
A: All local moves are based on an hourly rate. Our flat hourly rate begins upon arrival of your crew and ends upon completion of the move at your final destination. If packing is required the materials used are billed at a separate but reasonable rate.

Q: Is there a way to make my move less expensive?
A: Yes, since all moves are based on an hourly rate you can save money by having everything packed and ready for us when we arrive. Clearly marking each box with an appropriate room can help reduce time on delivery.

Q: Do you have insurance?
A: Yes. We have a certificate of general liability for up to $2 Million. We have a selection of insurance options for your goods please check with our office for more details.

Q: Can I change dates or cancel?
A: We do take deposits to reserve a move but you may cancel your move without losing a penny. We only ask that you keep us updated and let us know of any changes as soon as possible.

Yes, you can change the date of your move  but it is subject to availability.

Q: Should I tip the movers?
A: That’s up to you. Suggested gratuity is 15%–20% for the whole crew (not each mover). The foreman will distribute it.

Q: What if I need storage?
A: We offer storage in our secure warehouse facility. You only pay for the storage you use since we prorate by the day.  Our rates are on average 25 cents per cu ft. i.e. 550 – 700 sq ft (440 – 560 cubic ft) $110 – $140 per month.

Q: Can I pack my clothes in a chest or dresser drawers?
A: We recommend emptying all of your drawers for a faster  and safer move. Please know that by leaving items in their drawers you run the risk of stressing the joints of the furniture.

Q: How do you protect the hardwood floors or carpet?
A: We will place runners down in each entry way. We also protect each entry door jam with pads. If additional protection is required, please let us know in advance so we bring the appropriate equipment.

Q: How much advance notice do you need to schedule my move?
A: We typically need a week or two advance notice but we try to help out as last minute move possible. If you require a specific day and time then better to make advance arrangements.

Q: How long does it take to move?
A: Unfortunately we cannot tell you exactly how long it will take since we do not see the space beforehand. We take the time to train our crews so they they work as fast as possible while keeping safety in mind. Some variables will add additional time (Elevator, Service Stairs & Long carry for example).

Q. Can you move my house plants?

A.  Our movers will try to move any potted plants you have. Since it is not possible to stack items on top of plants, they do take up quite a bit of space in the truck. They are also difficult to secure during transit so there is a chance they may tip over, especially if it is a very tall and top-heavy plant.

Some pots are simply too large to move with the standard hand trucks our workers come equipped with. To increase the chance of your crew being able to move your plants, please refrain from watering them in the week preceding your move date. Watered plants are much heavier than plants with dry soil.

Q. What can’t you move?

A. There are some specialty items that we cannot move.  We cannot move pianos up or down a flight of stairs, pool tables, hot-tubs, or trampolines. Give us a call if you are uncertain about your items and we will let you know.
